Psychology Minor

Offered by: Department of Psychology Whatever career you pursue, a minor in psychology can complement your primary major, enhance your employability, allow you to develop a secondary area of expertise, or give you a chance to explore a passion.

Why choose a minor in psychology?

With a psychology minor you'll gain insight into the psychological concepts and practices that are vital in nearly every field.The skills that you acquire through the study of psychology such as analyzing data, communicating complex information and understanding human behavior are all abilities that are highly prized by employers.This Psychology Minor requires a minimum of 15 credit hours of selected course work and is designed to complement your primary major while providing insight into the understanding of psychology.

Which plans of study pair well?

  • Biology B.A. or B.S. (five additional courses — 15 cr.)
  • Chemistry B.S. (five additional courses — 15 cr.)
  • Neuroscience B.S. (two additional courses — 6 cr.)
  • Health Sciences B.S. (four additional courses — 12 cr.)

Minor requirements

Requirements vary depending on a student's date of enrollment at IUPUI. Click here to see the current requirements for the Psychology minor.  Additional Psychology Foundation courses (PSY-B310, B320, B340, B370) beyond the two required for the minor can count toward the Psychology Content course requirements.  However, Statistics (PSY-B305/B306) and Research Methods (PSY-B311/B312) are Research Methods courses and do NOT count towards the Psychology Content course requirements for the Psychology minor.  If you have further questions about what will or will not count for the Content course requirement, please contact Jared Trullinger.  

  • Note that students majoring in Psychology cannot earn the Psychology minor.

To declare the Psychology Minor, please use the School of Science Internal Admissions Application.  Please select "I am adding a minor" as the reason for the request.  In order for your application for the minor to be reviewed in a timely manner, please make sure to declare the minor at least ONE SEMESTER BEFORE YOU GRADUATE.
