Physics graduate receives award for best student paper
INDIANAPOLIS -- Joseph Suelzer received the award at the SPIE Active Photonic Materials VIII conference for his paper titled “Parity-time symmetry breaking in optically coupled semiconductor lasers.”
SPIE is an international society for optics and photonics. Suelzer’s abstract was reviewed by our program committee members and selected to enter the second phase of the student award competition. Suelzer’s presentation was then judged on-site by a panel of experts in the field.

IUPUI leading $4.8M project to increase STEM minority pipeline, impacting students statewide
INDIANAPOLIS -- The National Science Foundation awarded the grant to IUPUI as the lead institution of the Indiana STEM Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, which was formed to achieve that goal. Other alliance partners are IU Bloomington, Ball State University, IU Northwest, IU South Bend and Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis, which is the top provider of transfer students to IUPUI STEM-degree programs.
Ten Science and Math Doctoral Degrees Now Awarded from IUPUI Campus
INDIANAPOLIS -- The decisions mean that six Purdue science and math doctoral degrees will now be awarded from the Indianapolis campus, reflecting the programs' national prominence and success in obtaining external funding. These are long existing programs that have graduated many successful students.Previously, students enrolled in these programs at IUPUI but the degrees were credited to the West Lafayette campus.
